I entered Mum's "Folk art world" at the age of
thirteen. Always eager to join her students in the studio where mum introduced
me to the "comma stroke".
Realizing now that I am a perfectionist needed to spend many hours practicing
the stroke till I was satisfied to move on. Hence pages upon pages of commas
appeared.
Mum does everything with a confident casual speed and now as a partner in the
business I am learning fast to keep up with her.
Do I paint Roses, of course, but I still have my stroke work and commas. I enjoy
being creative with Decor and have concentrated my style around decorating my
room/house etc. With Mum's influence I look forward to developing a new style
with plenty of Roses to follow and perhaps sharing it one day with all of you.
I started teaching both in our shop and travel teaching to the country areas.
That I think increased my appetite for travels and decided to leave folk art on
the back burner for awhile and take off touring the world.
5 years later and still trying to fight the travel bug I decided the best option
would be to merge the two! I now travel nationally and internationally with mum
teaching all over the world to many places I'd never been. Invitations to teach
away come in all the time, so see you wherever you are one day!
Keep Painting,
Alison
